Are you thirsty?

When do you feel thirsty the most? It can be when the sun is too high, so hot that you are feeling exhausted. When you overwork your body and makes you dehydrated.

Let us look on Psalm 63.

It tells us about how thirsty David was.
See verse 1:

"You, God, are my God,
    earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you,
my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land
    where there is no water."

If you will read the first chapters, David was distressed of his enemy, fighting in the battle.

In the same manner, we are also distressed by the enemy - the results of our personal failure.

We thirst for different things: recognition, friends, a life-mate, a home, children, home church, an education, a job, money, gifts to serve our Lord, wisdom and courage. But most of all we thirst to love and be loved. Being thirsty of such things can really drain someone. It makes us feel insecure, it makes us feel distressed. It makes us feel alone.

It is normal that we thirst for earthly things, we are human after all. But when this thirstiness puts you in distress, something is off. We then should thirst to something which is eternal and more powerful, something that will gives us the feeling of relief. Nothing but God alone.

In Psalm 63, we can say that David cried out to God. But instead of complaining about the things he is encountering, he chose to thirst more of God, more of His presence. He utter his praises and worshiped God. Why? Because He knows who God is in his life. He is confident with his God.

Here are the proof of David's confidence to God:
- He had experienced His sanctuary and gazed upon God's power and glory.
- He knows and accepts that God's unfailing love is better than life itself.
- God satisfies him more than the richest feast.
- God is his Helper, thus He sing for joy in the shadow of God's wings.
- God's strong right hands holds him securely, thus he clings to Him.

- All his enemies will be destroyed with the help of God.

That is how David sees His God. His powerful but loving God.

In times of distress, in times of exhaustion, let us draw near to God and be thirsty of His presence.
Through prayer, present your frustrations to Him.
But it does not end there, we should have faith and trust in God.
How?
By knowing who God is in your life.
Again how?
By knowing Him deeper, through His words.

One song says:
Jesus I am thirsty, won't you come and fill me.
Earthly things have left me dry, only you can satisfy.
All I want is more of You.

- Yes! Yearn to know more of God and you will learn to put your hope in Him more.

- The more we know God, the more you will fall in love with Him.

An amazing truth here:

We have the same God as King David's!

Are you thirsty?

Plunge into God's presence now! :)

PS:
What drinks do you normally intake? I bet you love milk teas? To some they cannot live without coffee. And without colas, meals can be boring! Well, before milk tea, there's cola, before cola, there's coffee, but before coffee, there is water. Water has a big role in our life. Drink it frequently. :)

Remember that Jesus is the Living water (John 7:37-39)!

"Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give Him will never thirst again. Indeed the water I give him will become in Him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." (John 4:13-14)

When to say these words?

How often do you say thank you? What are the things or happenings in your life that you say thank you in return? To whom do you utter these precious words? Thank you seems an easy thing to say. We hear it from time to time and wherever we go (grocery, bookstore, office, school, etc.) people say this. It's actually a common phrase. Thank you for coming, for calling, for listening, for joining, for taking care of, for choosing, and many more. There are lots of reasons to say thank you. Even with kiddie videos, there are songs, teaching the kids to say thank you. "Thank you is what you say when someone does something nice for you today." - Eli Kids   "When you get something you want, what's the magic word? Hmmmm. Thank you, thank you, thank you." - Coco Melon (If you are a mom or certified Tita/Tito's of Manila, for sure you sing these songs while reading! Haha!) Actually, the reason why I am sharing this topic is because of the K-drama I  have ...

Are you weak?

Yes, there will always be a point in your life that you will feel weak and sometimes this weakness may lead to hopelessness. Being weak is not just in terms of our physical strength but also on what we are feeling inside (emotions, spiritual, relationships). Weakness occurs whenever any of problem, suffering, disease, worry, anxiety, fear and sorrow is encountered. Most people always find “weakness” as a negative word. Well, definitely it is. But having God in your life, believing that everything that is happening in your life has a purpose and that He is in control, you can confidently say that Weakness can be a Blessing too! During my younger days, I often hear my church-mates (Testimony time in our Youth fellowship) giving thanks to God, not just for all the blessings, provisions they are receiving but as well as to all the trials & sufferings they are encountering. I keep telling myself, "How come? How can they thank God, even in time of trials?” But as time goes by, G...

What is Missing?

Prayer is an essential thing to people who believes in Jesus. It is our 24/7 connection with the Lord. Many refer prayer as our lifeline to heaven. We pray because we want to talk to God. During our childhood days, we often pray to ask God for something. For teens/youth, it's like talking to their best friend, telling God, everything they encountered and even praying for the so-called "the one" 😉. We pray to thank God for all the blessings we are receiving. But often times we pray to ask. We pray for our needs. We pray to ask guidance for all the decisions we need to make. We pray for good health and His protection.  Many of us wonder why our longstanding prayers seem "unanswered" that makes us think God is not hearing us. Sometimes there will come a point that we tend to stop praying for it, either you accept that you get a "NO" from God or you gets tired of praying. Questions keep running our head, bothers us, faith is being shaken that we often jum...
